The Heart Behind the Princess Onyx™ Fairytales

Sometimes the most meaningful stories are born from moments we never expected.

The Princess Onyx™ Fairytales Series began after a hurtful incident involving my granddaughter at her elementary school. Like any grandmother, I wanted to comfort her, encourage her, and help her understand that what had happened did not define who she was.

So, I did what writers often do. I told her a story.

I created the story of a beautiful young princess named Princess Onyx, a little girl who would learn important lessons about her value, her confidence, and the precious qualities that made her special.

As I watched my granddaughter respond to the story, I realized something important: she would not be the only child who would face situations that might cause her to question her worth. Children everywhere encounter hurtful words, rejection, differences, misunderstandings, and experiences that can affect how they see themselves.

That realization inspired me to turn the story I had shared with my granddaughter into the first Princess Onyx™ book, Princess Onyx Precious Gems.

Fourteen Years Later, the Story Continues

Fourteen years later, Princess Onyx™ still holds a very special place in my heart. What began as one grandmother trying to encourage her beautiful granddaughter grew into a commitment to create stories that can encourage children everywhere.

As an author and grandmother, I am committed to continuing the Princess Onyx™ Fairytales Series with stories that entertain, teach, inspire, and remind children of all colors that they are valuable, beautiful, capable, and worthy of being celebrated.

Every child will face challenges while growing up. Sometimes a story can help a child see those challenges differently. Sometimes a character can become a friend. And sometimes a little princess can remind a child of something very important: You are one of life’s precious gems.
